Testimonials
07/23/08 Dear Mr. Goldberg, My mother-in-law, Jo Ann Hineline, has been staying at "the Riviera" since the beginning of June. Jo Ann is a vibrant 71-year-old lady who has neurological damage in her neck and back. This damage affects her ability to use her hands and walk. As a result, she fell in her home at the end of March, was hospitalized, and later transferred to a nursing home near her residence. When the staff there decided that her condition could no longer improve with additional therapy, her son and I knew it was time to act. By then, we had already spoken to Jay Canastra and visited the Wealshire and the Ponds, and we felt your residence was well suited to Jo Ann's needs. She arrived on June 3, and the transition, facilitated by Chona, was flawless. Since then, Jo Ann has been actively involved in every facet of the life offered at the Wealshire. She resumed her therapy with enthusiasm, both physical and occupational, and is extremely happy with her therapists, in particular Marc Bennett, her occupational therapist, and Alan, her current physical therapist. She is also enjoying the activities offered, especially the music programs, and some of the programs offered in conjunction with the library. Juanita and Lisa have been very kind and have arranged for her to be taken to all the activities. Since her arrival, my husband and I have seen Jo Ann progressively regain her dignity, her strength and even a little of the weight that she had lost in the hospital and during her stay at the nursing home where she first went for therapy. She still has a long way to go, but now has hope and plenty of willpower. She is no longer as apprehensive when she thinks of her future. She now believes things will be all right. Jo Ann is getting ready to move to "Brussels", at the Ponds, at the end of the month, and I know she will greatly miss some of the women who are helping her right now. We cannot say enough about the care she has been receiving at the Wealshire. I have seen how caring, kind, respectful and patient the staff at "the Riviera" is. They are all people who deal with a variety of situations with amazing competence. Mary Jane, her nurse, Martha, her daytime CNA, and Juana are wonderful and deserve special mention. So do Leah and Yolanda who are so helpful, kind and cheerful. Marge, the RN who is occasionally there as well, should not be forgotten. As I am writing these names, it is difficult for me to explain what makes each person so special. They are cheerful and yet take their professions seriously, they deal with all kinds of personalities with kindness and patience, they are always prompt when asked to help, and do not hesitate to go the extra mile to find a solution. They take pride in what they do. They are not just working there, they are personally involved. They also seem to all get along, respect each other, and help each other. They truly form a TEAM, and as such, they are able to help the patients with great efficiency. This is not easy work, but they do it well and with the right attitude. I should not forget to mention the people in charge of housekeeping and laundry. Unfortunately, I do not know their names, but they do an outstanding job as well. My husband, his mother, Jo Ann, and I are grateful to each one of them, and we are grateful to you, Mr. Goldberg, for creating such a well-conceived community, and for hiring and being able to retain such capable and caring employees. We hope you will convey our gratitude to the "Riviera" team. Please feel free to use this letter as a testimonial. Sincerely,
